If you are concerned about a student's social, emotional, or behavioral wellbeing, make a referral to The Nest!
Nest referrals should be made when staff begin to notice a pattern of any of the issues listed below, and after the staff member has attempted to assist the student with in-class PBIS techniques. A student:
appears sad, withdrawn, or depressed
seems anxious, worried, or highly stressed
appears irritable, easily frustrated, or displays aggressive behaviors
repeatedly exhibits challenges following classroom and school norms
displays significant change in mood
declines in academic performance and/or effort
experiences continued challenges relating with peers
is suspected of substance use
faces gang related challenges
is adjusting to grief and loss
experiences home life challenges
Additional concerns which may prompt a referral during distance learning if a student...
requests a Nest check-in on Advisory survey
expresses significant stress regarding being at home
reports a significant lack of motivation or drive to engage in online learning or other activities
expresses feelings of worry or anxiety about the state of the world
reports feelings of isolation or loneliness
reports challenges regarding family’s finances and/or access to food, housing, or basic necessities
